Paula, I complely identify with your emotional exhaustion. Although I didn’t read them in the same week, the last four books I read are (in this order) Latter-Day Cipher by Latayne Scott, The Shape of Mercy by Susan Meissner, Talking to the Dead by Bonnie Grove, and Daisy Chain by Mary DeMuth. Talk about an emotional food-fight! My emotions have been flung hither and yon. (My mother’s saying.) My family complains of my moodiness. “How can she be going through menopause again?” They think I’m a medical wonder. I am spent and worn out. I can’t take anymore pain and sadness. Where are the comedies? Quick. Someone write something that isn’t so heavy and gutwrenching. I need to laugh.
