God loved us…God loved me.
When I was far off.
Rebellious.
His enemy.
And it wasn't just lip service. He acted on that. He sent His only son to die.
I have an only son. (I have two daughters, too.) But I couldn't order my son's death.
Not for my enemies. Not for my friends, either. Not even for my other children. Not even if I knew he would come back to life.
But God …
We hear every week that God loves us, that Jesus died for our sins. The familiarity with it shouldn't detract from the wonder, or from the reality.
He did what He alone could do.
