“He has not observed iniquity in Jacob, nor has He seen wickedness in Israel. The Lord his God is with him.” Number 23:31
Now, you and I both know there was plenty of iniquity and wickedness in Israel. The book of Numbers is a litany of failure and rebellion.
But they were God’s chosen people, and He loved them with an unfailing, steadfast love.
He wasn’t blind to their sin. He chose not to see. He chose not to define them that way.
God has chosen us in Christ.
In spite of our rebellion and failures, in His eternal love, He chooses to see us with righteousness.
He chooses to define us by His love for us and His presence with us.
