From the opening pages of Scripture, no one who has encountered a holy God has come away unchanged. Adam, abraham, Hagar, moses and many, many others realized that God is not distant but a God who draws near to us in all our circumstances.
Each of the ENCOUNTERS books will tell the story of an individual who believes he or she knows and understands God, but then is forced to reevaluate and reconnect with God.
Book One: TOUCHED, we'll get the story of Donna, a young adult and eventually new wife and mother, but she is dealing with the impact of childhood sexual abuse by her father's brother. She has a wonderful, supportive husband, Phil, but struggles to grasp her worth or value to others and to God after such a betrayal.
In book two, embraced, the story opens with Donna's son Michael's wife asking for a divorce. He realizes at that point his whole life has centered around making her happy and he is miserable. His story is about finding himself, making peace with his father's memory and becoming a good husband and father himself.
Book three, undone, is about Donna's other son, david, and the crumbling of his marriage. He is a minister, and a workaholic and his wife, Jan, is a highly-skilled cardiac nurse. The book opens with the discovery of a pornography addiction and then explores how this impacts David's ministry and his marriage.
