Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not! For if there had been a law given which could have given life, truly righteousness would have been by the law. Galatians 3:21
We set goals.
We strive, achieve, accomplish.
We keep records, inscribe plaques and give medals.
Surely we can be good enough for God.
We invent, discover and innovate.
We create and discern.
We awards prizes, and patents.
We engineer and design and build.
Surely we can be good enough for God.
We give and help.
We shelter and feed.
We donate blood, time and money.
Surely we can be good enough for God.
He gave the Law so we could see what “good enough” looks like.
It is unwavering and relentless.
It is complex and reaching.
It allows for no mistakes, and no shortcomings.
It shows us how far our “good” is from perfect.
When we see we can’t be good enough for God …
We see His plan and provision.
We see His grace and goodness.
Ultimately, we see Jesus.
