I come to the garden alone,
While the dew is still on the roses;
And the voice I hear, falling on my ear,
The Son of God discloses.
He speaks, and the sound of His voice
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing;
And the melody that He gave to me
Within my heart is ringing. [Chorus]
I’d stay in the garden with Him
Though the night around me be falling;
But He bids me go; through the voice of woe,
His voice to me is calling. [Chorus]
Chorus:
And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own,
And the joy we share as we tarry there
None other has ever known.

Read Psalm 71:1-8
This hymn of quiet communion with Christ is well beloved. We seem to identify with that moment where all the cares and pressures of the world fade away and we simply enjoy being Christ. The fact is, that is available to us now, if we would take advantage of it. Get away with Jesus. Spend some quiet moments alone with Him, whether it’s the garden, the woods, the back porch, the basement, or wherever works for you. May we long for the day when we will live in His presence in His kingdom.
