For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God Than dwell in the tents of wickedness. Psalm 84:10
Access to a king is tightly controlled.
It is a rare favor for someone to enter the king’s presence, to present petition and have it granted.
David served in the court of King Saul.
He knew what it was to be intimately acquainted with the king.
David then presided over his own royal court.
Still, he says a day serving the King of Kings is better than a thousand days elsewhere.
Even better than being the king.
I’m not as familiar with kings.
Maybe that’s why I tend to take for granted the gift of God’s presence.
I don’t always fully appreciate the relationship the King has invited me into.
But instead of withdrawing the privilege … the King calls me closer.
