Years ago, Nickelodeon debuted their wildly successful preschool show, Blue's Clues. In those early days, the same program aired each day for a solid week. The idea was that repetition benefited kids several ways -retention, synthesis and confidence.
Repetition in your Bible study can produce those same benefits.
If you read your passage multiple times as you study:
- You will remember more of what you read.
- You brain will connect old and new information.
- You will gain confidence in your handling and understanding of Scripture.
In fact, Rick Warren in his Bible Study Methods recommends reading any passage under consideration at least 5 times. A major component of Kay Arthur's Inductive studies is reading each passage several times.
The only question is…
Should you read multiple times in one sitting OR once a day for several days?
The answer is… Yes. Practice a little and see which method works better for you.
