Behold, the LORD’S hand is not shortened, That it cannot save; Nor His ear heavy, That it cannot hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear. Isaiah 59:1-2
Let’s be honest
When we pray, we expect to see an answer
Sooner rather than later.
When answers don’t come,
We start to get agitated.
Our faith gets wobbly.
“God doesn’t hear my prayers.”
“Prayer doesn’t work.”
“Prayer is a waste of time.”
Doubts creep in.
Maybe God can’t do all those things.
Maybe there are limits.
The prophet affirms the problem is NOT on God’s end.
His hand CAN save.
His ears CAN hear when we call.
The problem is our sins.
We have caused a separation.
We have severed the relationship.
So we stumble along wondering why things are difficult,
Why there is injustice and unrighteousness?
Why God won’t do something?
Perhaps the answer is closer than we care to admit.
Our sins.
Our iniquities.
