Behold, it was for my welfare that I had great bitterness; but in love you have delivered my life from the pit of destruction, for you have cast all my sins behind your back. Isaiah 38:17
Behold
This is a light bulb word.
The moment when everything made sense.
It was for my welfare that I had great bitterness
God redeemed the bitter times, the anguish, the sorrow.
He turned it to peace, to a lesson, to growth and strength.
But in love
Contrasting the bitterness and hard times,
God intervenes in love, His great love for us.
You have delivered my life from the pit of destruction
God’s love works itself out in grace and mercy.
He prevents us from receiving what we should.
For you have cast all my sins behind your back.
Cast means thrown, hard, far away.
God has thrown our sins out of sight and out of mind.
Light bulb!
Read it again if you need to.
Let it sink in.
Behold!
