I haven't run for a couple of weeks now. Apparently, there's this thing called winter and even before it officially gets here, it drags the morning temps below my comfort zone. Around here, it happened suddenly. Thirty-seven one morning. Twenty-three the next. And then it got colder. On the long-range forecast, there are a couple of days next week that might warm up enough, but that's a big maybe. Even if it does warm up, it will only be for a day or two, and January still looms. So for now, I'm stuck.
I may say I'm not running in the rain or when it gets below thirty degrees, but things are different running that race that God has called me to. Following Him, there are no arbitrary limits set according to my comfort or preferences. I don't tell God, "I'll follow you today, but not on Saturdays." Or "I'll believe what You say about my salvation, but not about my obligations to be obedient." I don't get to pick which eight out of ten commandments I want to keep.
Following Jesus Christ, running the race He sets before me is a 24/7 lifetime pursuit. The weather, the season of life, the circumstances don't change the fact that because Jesus saved my soul, He owns me. He is Lord. He decides, and I run.

I think running in the "snow" and "rain" for God is a test to see how dedicated we are to Him. It tests our endurance and strength. It'll also help us get stronger. Great analogy!
