And throwing off his cloak, [Bartimaeus] sprang up and came to Jesus. Mark 10:50
Bartimaeus was a blind man in Jericho.
That cloak was his bedroll and his blanket.
It was his sole earthly possession.
It was essential to his life as a beggar.
It was a symbol of who he was, his very identity.
But then Jesus called.
After an encounter with Jesus, the Christ, nothing in his life would ever be the same.
We face the same choice.
The cloak or the call.
Sometimes, the choice is harder than it should be.
