The LORD lives! Blessed be my Rock! Let the God of my salvation be exalted. Psalm 18:46
In this one verse,
David connects that the LORD is everliving,
That He is our Rock
That He is our salvation.
That’s not an accident or simply poetry.
God is alive.
He is not an inanimate idol
Or an intangible feeling or sensation.
He lives.
That doesn’t change.
God is your Rock.
He provides a sure foundation.
He lifts us up to a secure place.
We find our protection in Him.
That doesn’t change.
God is your salvation.
We have no hope of rescue
From the consequences of our own sin
Except God intervened.
In HIM is salvation.
That doesn’t change.
Later, David’s prayer is
From the end of the earth I call to You when my heart is faint; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I. (Psalm 61:2)
Lead us to Yourself, O LORD.
Not just for salvation, although we need it,
But for protection,
Assurance, rest, relief,
Restoration, provision.
May we never look to or settle for
Another rock.
