For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus (1 Timothy 2:5).
What is a mediator?
Someone who acts to bring accord to parties at a variance.
Someone who interposes between parties in order to reconcile them.
That’s the dictionary.
What about the theology?
First, there is one God.
One God with whom our relationship is broken.
One God to whom we need reconciled.
One God and only one.
Similarly, there is only One Mediator
Uniquely qualified to stand between
A holy God and sinful man–
The sinless God in flesh, Jesus Christ.
He alone takes action to bring peace between enemies.
He alone places Himself between us and God’s just wrath.
He alone bridges the great gulf.
Thank you Jesus for doing what we are powerless to do.
Thank you God for providing a Mediator.
