Something to think about as you start a new week
Monday Meditations are quick posts designed to get you thinking about God. They provide a fresh perspective as you jump into your routine.
Be to me the rock of habitation to which I may continually come. Psalm 71:3
When we were kids, we had a place.
Maybe it was tree house, a fort, or another secret special place.
Now maybe it's a porch swing or a gazebo.
A quiet place.
Someplace to get away. To escape.
To catch our breath. To clear our minds.
He can be that place.
Let's go!
A New Day
And all the people went their way to eat and drink, to send portions and rejoice greatly, because they understood the words that were declared to them. (Nehemiah 8:12)
They knew where they stood.
They realized they had squandered the gift of God's grace and provision.
But this was a new day.
Fresh grace. Renewed opportunity.
Unfailing love.
That's worth celebrating.
Sustained
The Lord is the sustainer of my soul. (Psalm 54:4 NAS)
Sustainer comes from a Hebrew word that means to prop up, or to bear up.
In English, sustain means to give support or relief to,
To nourish,
To continue or prolong.
Who else besides the Lord?
Happy Labor Day!
Happy Labor Day!
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord. 1 Corinthians 15:58
Higher Power
I will cry to God Most High, to God who accomplishes all things for me. Psalm 57:2
"I'm sorry, I can't do that without a manager."
"I'm not authorized to make that change."
"Our policies won't allow us to make exceptions."
"I wish I could be more help."
I'm so glad I have a higher authority, a higher power to appeal to.
May He be my first – and not my last – resort.
Thank you Jesus for rest
Thank you, Jesus, for rest.
Football game, driving lessons, state fair, piano recital, business meeting, birthday party, book release, two church services, grocery shopping, laundry, bills to pay… That was just the weekend. And it’s Monday again.
Jesus says “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest… Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” (The Message)
Thank you, Jesus, for rest.
Help me be wise enough to take it
